'
Artist\'s Statement:

The visual image is my favorite form of communication. My art work, if successful, will move you as I have been moved, will show you something I found inspiring, will expose issues I may or may not have resolved, or simply take you someplace I have been that is so beautiful that it waits in my memory to be shared. The different series and varied mediums reflect my exploration of a better way to say what I was feeling. Sometimes the medium I use might be because it is the most practical, like sketching with my pen while traveling. Taken as a whole, my work is an autobiography.

I need to mention here that I owe a debt to Picasso. The 1980 retrospective of his work inspired me to do whatever gave me pleasure and I\'ve done that. I owe Mark Rothko for showing me the transcendent power of pure color and the spiritual strength of simplicity. And I am grateful to Jackson Pollock for his innovative and unabashed honest expression (my humble opinion) of an ever present and boundless chaotic energy.

Pamela Long Nolan - Northport, NY May 15 2010

';
